A free mini-course: use Claude and ChatGPT with documents

Free lesson. You can use Claude, ChatGPT, or another assistant as a first reader for a long document. The trick is to give it a job that a reader can check.

This is the same kind of activity we build into an Emply learning path: a short task, a useful output, and evidence that shows what the learner understood.

Try this with a PDF

1. Open the document and remove anything you are not allowed to share.
2. Upload it to your approved AI tool.
3. Ask for a summary of one section, not the whole document at once.
4. Ask for page references or short quotations.
5. Open the original pages and check the answer.

Copy-paste prompt

Read section 3 of this document.
Explain it for a colleague who has not seen the document.
List:
1. the main rule,
2. one example,
3. one thing that is still unclear.
For every claim, include the page number.
Do not invent a page reference.

Free review sheet

Write down three lines after the exercise:

• The most useful point was...
• The assistant got this wrong or left it out...
• I would verify this by...

That last step matters. A fluent summary is not proof that the source was understood.

How this becomes learning
